There is a place that’s dear to me,
Out on the Kansas plain.
Sometimes I long to see again,
The fields of golden grain.
Meadowlarks fly in the sky,
The wind is wild and free.
The sun shines hot up in the sky,
Yet, this is home to me.
There’s lots of golden sunflowers
And bees are humming there.
In the hustle of harvest time,
With combines everywhere,
Grains bins working overtime
As drivers bring their grain.
Busy women in the kitchens
Baking bread of worldly fame,
Kansas where buffalo have roamed
And Indians drew their bows.
Where covered wagons made their way
Along with friend and foe.
Kansas you have a history now,
With many things to view.
There are so many beautiful places,
My Kansas, I love you.
